Diane Carriere
… resides in Northern Ontario, where the breathtaking beauty of the land and its ever-changing atmosphere have profoundly influenced her artistic journey. Drawn to the interplay of light, color, and perspective from a young age, she has found her passion in watercolor painting—an enchanting medium that captivates her with its fluidity and vibrancy. Through years of dedication, Diane has honed her craft by immersing herself in a wealth of resources, including books, online tutorials, and workshops.
Her artistic process often begins with photography, capturing the stunning landscapes and vibrant flora that surround her in Sudbury and on Manitoulin Island. Through her impressionistic style, Diane seeks to immerse her audience in the serene and enchanting worlds that inspire her, inviting viewers to experience the same sense of tranquility and wonder she feels.
Every third weekend of July, Diane showcases her work during the annual Art Tour in Kagawong, Ontario. For details and maps, visitors can explore the Manitoulin Fine Arts Association. Her paintings are also displayed at Barrydowne Paint in Sudbury and the exquisite salon and gallery, Puretique, in Kagawong.
In addition to creating art, Diane is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others. She teaches workshops on “Introduction to the Basics of Watercolor Painting” at the Centre de Santé de Sudbury, inspiring a new generation of artists.
Artist Statement
"Watercolor painting excites and transports me to a place of peace and elation. While drawing was my first love, when I first encountered watercolor artworks, I was hooked—I knew I had to learn how to create such mesmerizing pieces. With a plethora of resources available and the exhilarating joy I experience while working with these vibrant colors, I continually challenge myself to grow as an artist. Watercolor not only allows me to express my innermost feelings, but it also surprises me with techniques that create glowing lights and three-dimensional effects. I am committed to painting with watercolor…forever."
